How the connection works
Mantanani is reached by boat from the Kota Belud mainland area. Tourism information names Kuala Abai, while individual operators and resorts may use their own departure arrangements. Obtain the exact jetty and meeting instructions from your booking provider; reaching Kota Belud town alone does not complete the connection. A snorkelling day tour and an overnight resort package may include different land transfers.
Before departure
Confirm both boat directions, luggage limits and the plan if sea conditions delay travel. Compare a sea-transfer-only offer with one including transport from Kota Kinabalu, especially if you are already staying on the northern mainland. Agree the return road pickup and leave flexibility before any flight. Marine activities, meals and accommodation should be checked separately from the boat journey unless the package explicitly includes them.
