The experience
Provincial reporting describes a canopy bridge linking five Bangkirai trees, about 64 metres long and 30-40 metres above ground. Those dimensions explain the appeal and the exposure. The crossing should remain optional for anyone uncomfortable with height; a forest visit need not depend on completing it.
Gateway and accommodation
Balikpapan provides a practical hotel and arrival base. Arrange a return road transfer to the Samboja-area attraction, using the precise destination rather than assuming it is within central Balikpapan. Confirm pickup and waiting time with the driver.
Time and effort
No current official total visit duration was established. Set aside a substantial outing as editorial planning, including travel, a ground-level walk and rest. Ask about steps and bridge access before bringing someone with limited mobility. The bridge length does not represent the full walking distance.
Arranging the visit
Check with the manager whether the canopy crossing is operating on your date and whether separate admission applies. Published descriptions establish the attraction but do not certify today's maintenance or weather clearance. Follow staff limits rather than trying to cross independently.
Conditions and preparation
Wear secure footwear and carry water and rain protection. Keep hands available when staff advise it, secure loose belongings and stop if conditions change. A canopy route may close in poor weather. Do not promise wildlife sightings or repeat unsupported superlatives about tree age or world rankings.
Combining your trip
Combine the outing with a Balikpapan stay, leaving another day for a separately arranged forest or coastal experience. Do not automatically attach a rehabilitation-centre visit: animal-care facilities have their own permissions and are not ordinary open attractions.
