The local context
Beras Basah is part of Bontang’s coastal visitor landscape. Official municipal reporting locates the island in Kelurahan Tanjung Laut Indah, Bontang Selatan, and the tourism department continues to manage visitor-related issues there. It is therefore a local municipal outing, not a distant island borrowed from another regency. Give it its own weather-dependent plan. A beach or island photograph does not prove that the sea is calm, the water is clear or every advertised activity is operating when you arrive.
A considered visit
Confirm the actual departure point, operator, lifejackets and return before boarding. Follow any marine-weather restriction and postpone if conditions are unsuitable. Keep beach plans modest, protect shoreline vegetation and bring rubbish back to the mainland. Do not assume water activities are included in a boat transfer or that a tourism listing guarantees their safety. Ask current operators and managers about access, charges and facilities; previous visitor reports should not become fixed promises.
