The local story
The mosque complements Museum Mulawarman with a different kind of heritage: a building still used by a congregation. Its timber structure and layered roof invite a closer look at how religious architecture takes local form. The name also appears as Adji Amir Hasanoeddin in heritage documentation; these spellings refer to the same Tenggarong mosque. Rather than reducing it to a date or a photograph, place it in the relationship between the court neighbourhood and ordinary worship.
Planning your visit
Combine the exterior with a museum visit in Panji. Ask locally whether visitors may enter at that time, dress modestly and let prayers set the rhythm. Photography of worshippers requires permission. A quiet pause here can be more rewarding than a hurried stop between transfers; follow the caretaker’s advice about where to stand and which areas are for worship.
