Tanjung Batu Beach, Bintulu

Tanjung Batu is Bintulu’s local coastal escape: a place for a sea breeze, an unhurried walk and a picnic rather than a remote beach expedition.

A local recreation spot

The beach is a separate stop from the older market centre. Sarawak Tourism Board describes it as a picnic and recreation area with food and drink stalls. Combine shore views with a short walk, choosing how far to go according to the weather and the surfaces underfoot.

Let the conditions set the pace

An attractive coastline does not establish safe swimming conditions. Check local notices and avoid entering rough water. Exposed places can be hot even on a short visit; bring drinking water and allow for rain. A dry, calm interval is better for lingering than a fixed sunset plan during unsettled weather.

Pair it with Taman Tumbina

Taman Tumbina is another attraction in this part of Bintulu, but it has its own entrance and visiting arrangements. Plan the two stops separately and confirm your return transport. Neither requires adding distant Similajau National Park to the same local afternoon.
