For a normal commercial-air itinerary, use Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan airport in Balikpapan and arrange an onward road transfer. The aviation authority lists Nusantara airport as a special airport; do not assume a regular public flight exists. Roads, toll access and entrance arrangements have changed during development, so fixed journey times and old holiday access windows are poor planning tools.
Visiting
Public access does not make every building or construction zone open. Follow staff instructions and keep to visitor areas. OIKN has stated that general entry to the public KIPP area is free; transport, meals and accommodation are separate expenses. Carry some cash as well as your usual payment method.
