Sibu Heritage Centre

Sibu Heritage Centre offers a place to begin asking how the river town developed. Connect the city’s cultural interpretation with the streets and markets outside.

A civic setting for local history

Sibu Municipal Council identifies the centre as a council-owned building housing the local cultural heritage museum. Sarawak Tourism Board also locates its Sibu visitor information centre here on Jalan Central. These are useful starting points for understanding the town, not a substitute for meeting its living communities.

Plan for current access

Confirm museum access and visitor-information arrangements before making a special trip. Exhibitions and building access may change, and the information desk and museum need not follow the same arrangements. Keep the visit flexible rather than relying on unverified hours.

Take the context into town

Follow with a short walk towards the central market and riverfront, noticing how civic spaces, shopfronts and trading streets fit together. Give individual buildings their own identities rather than treating every older facade as the same historical period.
