section-1
The parish’s own history traces local worship to the 1970s and records its formal establishment on 28 August 1979. That story gives the building a human setting: this is a place serving a community, not simply a decorative stop between the airport and a hotel. If someone is available to explain the parish’s development, listen to that account without assuming that the present building dates from the community’s first gatherings.
section-2
The official parish website places Santo Agustinus on Jalan Adi Sucipto in Sungai Raya, Kubu Raya. Use the church name and its official map link when arranging a drop-off, rather than asking only for a church in Pontianak. The archdiocese’s name does not make the parish a sight within Pontianak city. Check the return pickup point and ask about the actual pedestrian entrance if mobility or steps are a concern.
section-3
For an architectural visit, ask whether there is a suitable moment outside services. Keep your voice low, dress considerately and request permission before interior photography. Do not interrupt prayer, photograph people closely without agreement or treat a wedding or funeral as a visitor event. If access is not appropriate, a brief exterior view from an allowed area is enough. The published office schedule is not a promise of unrestricted sightseeing access.
section-4
Allow the visit to remain small and unhurried. Combine it with another nearby cultural stop and a meal, rather than expecting the parish to fill a whole day. Confirm transport and current arrangements before setting off, especially when fitting a visit around a flight. Its value lies in understanding a living part of Sungai Raya, with enough time to notice the setting and enough flexibility to leave the community undisturbed.
