Understand the area

This guide concerns Sungai Raya in Kubu Raya, next to Pontianak, not the place of the same name in Bengkayang. The visit follows a few specific urban corridors and nearby neighbourhoods: the road towards Supadio, Jalan Hakka, Sungai Raya Dalam and Kuala Dua. It is not an invitation to treat all of Kubu Raya as one city. Names used by hotel booking platforms can blur administrative boundaries, so use the accommodation’s actual address. Pontianak’s palace, provincial museum and central waterfront belong to a separate city visit and should not be mistaken for sights inside Sungai Raya.

Family days and green spaces

ParadisQ at Qubu Resort is the clearest waterpark option on the Supadio corridor. In Kuala Dua, the official tourism inventory also lists Hutan Wisata Albasia and Danau Hoce. The inventory confirms the places, not today’s opening hours or the availability of individual rides, boats and facilities. Contact the operator before planning a full day. Choose according to the group’s interests and weather, with time to rest between activities. These stops need road transfers; they do not form one walkable park complex. A smaller, well-organised outing is preferable to rushing between every name on the map.

Hakka culture and Serdam dining

The Hakka cultural house, inaugurated in October 2024, introduces a present-day community institution. Its architecture and communal spaces should not be described as an ancient village or a royal residence. Check access and respect private activities. Sungai Raya Dalam offers a different view of local life through its culinary corridor, opened in December 2025. Browse what is actually available and ask vendors about preparation and ingredients. The combination of traditional and modern cooking rewards an open-minded approach: choose what appeals on the day rather than looking for one dish to represent the whole area. A thoughtful cultural visit and an unhurried meal make a useful pairing.

Arrival and practical planning

Supadio Airport, code PNK, is in Limbung within Sungai Raya, Kubu Raya. That geographical fact matters when selecting a hotel and arranging transfers: the commercial label Pontianak does not tell you the actual municipality or neighbourhood. Give drivers complete addresses and confirm both outward and return arrangements for recreation stops. One or two days can introduce the area without a crowded programme; a third is optional breathing space. Keep rain protection and drinking water handy, confirm attraction access and allow an ample margin before a flight. Do not rely on fixed journey times across a dispersed urban area.
