Supadio Airport

Supadio is the airport gateway serving Pontianak. Use it to organise a West Kalimantan arrival while checking actual flights for the intended travel date.

Which journey does this gateway suit?

PNK suits Pontianak and a West Kalimantan itinerary built from that city. A stay in Pontianak can precede an onward road journey towards Singkawang, while an interior programme around Putussibau needs its own confirmed transport and host. Compare total travel days before adding both to a short trip. Singkawang now has its own airport, so compare current services instead of assuming every visit must begin at Supadio. For remote Kapuas travel, arrange the return connection as carefully as the outward leg and keep a final gateway night.

Airport and onward connections

The transport ministry identifies Supadio with Pontianak and documents support for international operations. Airport status and an available route are different facts: an international designation alone does not establish a flight to your home city. Check the airline's live timetable and book ground transfer separately, especially if continuing to another destination on arrival day.

Pontianak is the natural first city connection in this dossier. Singkawang and Putussibau require their own onward arrangements, with route choice based on current transport rather than an assumed through-service. Leave time between arrival and a remote-area departure so delays do not compromise a park visit whose boat, guide and permissions were arranged separately.

Singkawang's own airport opened in 2024, correcting older tourism advice that sent every visitor through Pontianak. Compare available services rather than preserving obsolete access assumptions. No fares, frequency or transfer duration are fixed here; the airport record provides a verified gateway and directs travellers to date-specific information when making the actual booking.

A practical arrival sequence

Send the flight number and date to whoever meets you and agree where the driver waits after baggage collection. Save the hotel address and contact offline. If your inbound journey crosses an international border, allow for entry procedures before a fixed pickup. The entry guide distinguishes permission to enter from arrival declarations.

Treat a late arrival as a reason to simplify the first evening. Eat, settle in and prepare for the next leg instead of attaching a non-refundable excursion immediately after landing. When a flight and a boat or separate flight must connect, ask both providers about the consequences of delay. A flexible first night often protects more of the trip than a tightly packed arrival day.

Before booking the onward leg

Compare the whole journey rather than the airfare alone: terminal changes, luggage, road pickup, overnight location and the return connection. Check baggage limits against your actual ticket, particularly when a smaller aircraft follows a mainline flight. Keep medicines, documents and essential arrival items in your permitted cabin bag.

Use the transport planning guide to select the next mode and the accommodation guide to choose the overnight base. The linked local activities below show what can be arranged after arrival. For a remote stay, leave a spare night before the final departure. These are planning recommendations; the carrier supplies your check-in deadlines and live operational information.
