Onderzoeken in Punggualas registreerden hem zowel in 2015 als in 2019. Een akoestisch onderzoek in Tahawa documenteerde nachtelijke roepen en detecteerde hem op bemonsteringslocaties in heidebos. Zijn kikkervisjes zijn beschreven uit stilstaand water en overstroomd bladstrooisel op Borneo.

Punggualas ligt in het veenmoeraslandschap van Sebangau National Park. Onderzoek in Tahawa Village Forest registreerde deze kikker ook in onderzochte heide- en veenbossen.

De opvallend spitse snuit helpt deze boomkikker met lange ledematen te herkennen. Volwassen dieren zitten één tot twee meter boven de grond bij voortplantingswater; mannetjes roepen ook vanaf stammen. Voortplanting vindt plaats bij stilstaande bospoelen met bladstrooisel. De gemarmerde larven hebben een dunne staartpunt en verschuilen zich overdag onder bladeren.
