Which journey does this gateway suit?
BWN suits a compact Brunei journey with a base in Bandar Seri Begawan. Agree the road pickup and first hotel, then organise city visits and a Temburong forest day separately. The road bridge to Temburong changes district access, but a national-park visit still needs local river and guide arrangements. If continuing to Miri, allow a dedicated border-transfer day and establish who supplies the authorised vehicle. Brunei’s E-Arrival Card and visa rules are separate from Malaysian requirements. A short stay is easier when those documents and the first transfer are settled before landing.
Airport and onward connections
The Department of Civil Aviation gives its airport address as Bandar Seri Begawan BB2513. Radisson’s official capital-hotel page independently identifies the airport as BWN and describes road access to the city hotel. Use the airport’s full name and code when checking a booking, especially where an itinerary also includes other destinations on Borneo.
The civil aviation website provides separate arrival and departure information with flight numbers and status fields. These are operational updates rather than permanent route promises. Check the relevant direction and flight number close to travel, and use the airline’s own instructions for baggage and check-in requirements. A cached flight listing should not determine a future connection.
Road transfer planning should use the actual address of your accommodation, not simply the capital’s name. Radisson describes car or taxi access from the airport through Jalan Perdana Menteri and Jalan Tasek. Travellers staying at The Empire should instead specify Jerudong. Confirm the agreed pickup location and transfer arrangements with the accommodation or transport provider.
A practical arrival sequence
Send the flight number and date to whoever meets you and agree where the driver waits after baggage collection. Save the hotel address and contact offline. If your inbound journey crosses an international border, allow for entry procedures before a fixed pickup. The entry guide distinguishes permission to enter from arrival declarations.
Treat a late arrival as a reason to simplify the first evening. Eat, settle in and prepare for the next leg instead of attaching a non-refundable excursion immediately after landing. When a flight and a boat or separate flight must connect, ask both providers about the consequences of delay. A flexible first night often protects more of the trip than a tightly packed arrival day.
Before booking the onward leg
Compare the whole journey rather than the airfare alone: terminal changes, luggage, road pickup, overnight location and the return connection. Check baggage limits against your actual ticket, particularly when a smaller aircraft follows a mainline flight. Keep medicines, documents and essential arrival items in your permitted cabin bag.
Use the transport planning guide to select the next mode and the accommodation guide to choose the overnight base. The linked local activities below show what can be arranged after arrival. For a remote stay, leave a spare night before the final departure. These are planning recommendations; the carrier supplies your check-in deadlines and live operational information.
