A pause in the Loksado landscape
The hot springs belong to the visitor landscape around Loksado in Hulu Sungai Selatan, South Kalimantan. They are a different kind of outing from a strenuous hill walk or river excursion: the focus is a recreation area rather than a remote wilderness pool. Choose Tanuhi when a shorter, less hurried stop suits the day, while checking whether the available facilities meet the needs of everyone travelling with you.
Check which facilities are available
The district reported refurbishment work in 2025, and later official reports document visitors in 2026 and tourism-department maintenance in September 2026. That supports an active recreation-site context, but does not prove that every pool or associated facility is available every day. Ask the operator which areas are open, the current entrance arrangements and whether any maintenance affects bathing or changing facilities. A published completion target or old promotional photograph should not replace that practical check.
A considerate visit around the pools
Follow the instructions displayed at the pool you intend to use. Check the water before entering, take breaks and do not treat naturally warm water as a medical treatment. Keep children closely supervised and be careful on wet surfaces. Bring the clothing and towel you need rather than assuming equipment is supplied. Avoid soap or other products in the bathing water and leave the surroundings clean. If you prefer not to bathe, establish in advance whether the accessible recreation area still makes the stop worthwhile for you.
Combine it with your existing route
One to two hours on site is a useful editorial starting point, with road travel added separately. Arrange transport through your Loksado base and confirm the final arrival point and return pickup rather than depending on an unverified public-transport schedule. The wider Meratus Mountains offer a different, landscape-focused context; any guided walk or river activity needs its own agreement and conditions check. Do not assume admission at Tanuhi includes another excursion. A flexible stop after travel can work better than a rushed visit squeezed between a long walk and a fixed onward connection.
