Recorded in open forest at Habaring Hurung in Sebangau National Park. The species' native range extends beyond Borneo across tropical Asia. The accepted species name is Nepenthes mirabilis; do not infer a Borneo-endemic variety from a species-level identification.

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew · Nepenthes mirabilis: accepted name and rangeHow the plant grows
Nepenthes mirabilis grows from green leafy shoots that can climb through surrounding vegetation. Pitchers develop from leaf tendrils and contain the fluid used to retain and digest prey. The traps are modified leaves rather than flowers or fruits. That distinction helps explain why a plant can have pitchers and a separate flowering stem at the same time. Its species-level range is much wider than Borneo.

At Habaring Hurung in Sebangau National Park, researchers recorded it in open forest. That observation anchors the record in Central Kalimantan without treating every nearby wetland as a confirmed location. Other Nepenthes occur there too, including Slender pitcher plant and Raffles' pitcher plant. Scientific identification matters because a common “pitcher plant” label hides differences between species, varieties and hybrids.
