UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Programme · Tanjung Puting Biosphere ReserveDistribution
Lowland forest is documented in Tanjung Puting in Kalimantan, Danum Valley and Kinabalu Park in Sabah, and Ulu Temburong in Brunei. Individual protected areas also contain other habitats; their boundaries are not lowland-forest boundaries.
Ecological importance
Dipterocarp forests support diverse tree communities and forest-dependent wildlife. Kinabalu and Danum Valley illustrate how lowland forest forms part of a larger protected landscape.
